Timeline

May

  • Apply for Financial Aid
  • Register for Classes (Packet mailed mid to late May)
  • MyVU portal login information (Mailed late May)

June

  • Accept Financial Aid through MyVU. You will only be awarded financial aid after you register for classes AND complete the financial aid paperwork.
  • Fall 2011 Booklist available

July

  • Parking Permit (Apply online)

August

  • Complete Financial Registration with the Business Services Office by Monday, August 1
  • Course Syllabi (Available 1-2 weeks before the start of class)
  • Mandatory New Student Orientation Monday, August 22.   Orientation from 3-5pm and Family Dinner from 5-7pm.
  • First Day of Class Wednesday, August 24

Apply for Financial Aid

  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), if you haven’t already, and sign with your PIN.  The FAFSA is currently available.  If you receive need based grants and scholarships, priority will be given to those who submitted their FAFSA by the Wednesday, March 2, 2011 deadline.
  • Complete the Graduate Financial Aid Application online.  Select Forms under the Grad Students menu at the top of the page.
  • Provide documents to the Financial Aid Office if a request was sent to your permanent mailing address.  You may also check for missing documents on your MyVU portal under the Communication tab.
    • Note: No Financial Aid will be offered until all missing documents are completed and submitted to the Financial Aid Office AND until you are enrolled in Fall 2011 classes.
  • Accept your Financial Aid Awards online at MyVU.  Select Financial Aid tab, click on Accept or Reject my Financial Aid, and enter 2011 as the year.

Financially Register

  • You can find more information about the below items on the Financial Registration web page.
  • Financial Registration with our Business Services Office needs to be completed after you are registered for your Fall semester classes.  If you are using loans to cover part or all of your tuition expenses you will need to wait until you receive your Financial Award Letter (mentioned above under “Apply for Financial Aid”).  Once you receive this letter the Business Services Office will be able to see the loans you are awarded and use that information toward your payment plan.
  • Make sure any Previous Balances have been paid in full.
  • Refer to your Registration Statement, which will be mailed out in early June 2011, for total amount due.
  • Choose a Payment Plan or submit payment in full by Monday, August 1, 2011.  To select a payment plan or submit payment visit vanguard.edu/tuitionpay:
    • Option 1: Pay In Full
    • Option 2: Semester Payment Plan
              5 month payment plan begins Friday, July 1, 2011
              4 month payment plan begins Monday, August 1, 2011
  • Make sure that the following documents are on file:
    • Business Services Student Account Master Promissory Note
    • Student Cash Distribution Management Statement
    • Third-Party Billing Request Form (optional)

Student Health Insurance

  • Optional: Enroll in the University sponsored insurance plan (if you do not have comparable coverage); contact the Housing Office to enroll. For convenience you may also give the form to Asha to be forwarded on to the Housing Office.

Student Parking Permit

  • It is recommended that you register your vehicle for a student parking permit now so you will have it at the beginning of the fall semester.
